The Madrinha Trust Mentee Awards

Madrinha Trust is proud to have exceptional mentees for the 2023 MT Awards. Each mentee is put forward by their mentor for special recognition.

These students have gone over and above to achieve personal goals and exceptional success in what they do. 

The 2023 awards took place on Friday 28 April at 10am GMT

    Khader is a 5th year medical student at the Islamic university of Gaza.

    He is an active student and always looks forward a successful future. He is always keen to participate in curricular and extracurricular activities, and strives to serve the community and provide useful advice. Among these activities are awareness campaigns on the Corona epidemic, diabetes, breast cancer, general hygiene, healthy nutrition, obesity and addiction, which target all segments of society in malls, schools, universities and public places. Also attends international and local medical conferences - an outstanding student."

    It is very hard to keep up with all the awards and board memberships, chairs and papers published by Vanessa her consistent academic and community performance rightfully earns her the highest golden award. Vanessa is a very special person with innate leadership qualities embedded in her character. She will achieve great things and will be hugely successful in whatever direction she follows in the medical world! We are so proud of her!

ADAM CHONGOZA

OUTSTANDING ENTERPRISE AWARD 2023

Adam shows determination in everything he does. He has an excellent attendance record at all the Career Skills Programme workshops as well as giving his peer to peer support to the two new Malawi students that joined Madrinha Trust as new mentees early in 2023. He continues to provide the hands on guidance to those students which is hugely appreciated and of huge benefit, leading by his excellent example.

Boitshepo is so deserving of this award for her unrelenting determination for self development, overcoming her shyness and fear of speaking up, she has pushed herself to reach out to tutors when she has needed assistance with her ‘weaker’ subjects and has been successful in obtaining an excellent degree in Education at one of the top universities in SA which has enabled her to pursue her Hons. ALL-ROUND ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2023

Doaa has consistently gained top marks in all her assessment, finishing top of the year. Her academic achievements are astounding. Aside from this, her extracurricular achievements are vast. She has recently undertaken a quality improvement project in obstetrics and gynaecology regarding postnatal care of women. This year she has spent 60 hours of her own time on a research techniques course, driven by her ambition to learn more about her field of research. Doaa is particularly deserving of this ward as she continues to excel academically as well as in her community and despite being faced with financial hardship, she does not let this put her off striving towards and achieving her goals.
